Final

This is my final piece, on "How to make the perfect cup of coffee." I have created a motion graphic for my client to implement into their coffee shop.

I took my draft and then smoothed some areas of my video out. I labeled some of objects near the end of the video. I also changed some of the colours like the cup for the coffee company which was Costa.

I also added a sound track to add a little more fun to the overall video. I used a none copyrighted track which I got from the internet. I chose an upbeat song with a decently fast paste similar to the video itself.

I also created other objects in illustrator, such as this congratulations banner.

Final Draft

This is my final draft of my motion graphic. I took my scamps/storyboard and created the digital vision. I found myself changing certain aspects of the video, which I should have implemented in my final piece. This means you will find certain aspects of my video which won't be in the scamps but I decided to add them as they complimented my design.

When creating each scene I did it individually, as organising the whole project, made it so much easier. I could change certain aspects of each scene without messing up any other bit of my project. I animated each aspect of the video, with different animation.

I then put each scene into the final project and just altered the timing of each project.

For all the illustrations I used Adobe Illustrator, using either flat colours or gradients to show lighting. I tried to use similar colours with 2D objects.

Case Study on Saul Bass

Saul Bass Type Emulation.

For my Case Study, I decided to create a small emulation of Saul Bass. I chose his famous title sequence from John Singleton's Higher Learning. I tried to use a similar technique to how Bass would also gone about making this font.

I started with a drawing of my idea in my field notes, shown below:

I then took this image into Illustrator to go around my drawing with the pen tool to add colour and shape to my design.

Emulation/Experiment 2

This is first started when I saw some motion tracking a film advert I was watching at the cinema. I saw the text following an object around the scene and just thought it would tie in well with my scamp idea of real life objects.

I first started by taking a video of the pan I was going to use with the object I will tracking off. I made sure their was a contrasting area for the tracker to follow when analysing the video.

I then imported the footage, and set to work on imputing the text. I started by motion tracking an area I wanted the text to follow. I added a null object to where I based the track, and then attached the text to it. This then meant I just needed to blend the text into the scene, which I did by adding a small reflection and shadow at the bottom of the text. I then found my video was slightly too short. So I freeze framed the end of the video allowing the text to stay there for a second or two. I found this looked really strange as the wrest of the video was in motion, compared to the end. I decided to pre-compose my work and add camera wobble as if someone was holding the camera. I feel this gave it a really nice effect, and actually improved the outcome of my short clip.

Colour Choices

This is my colour choices for my motions graphics. I will be exploring different colour schemes for my product. I will be using showing this through a small illustration of a coffee cup, quickly showing how each colour would work when presenting my final piece.

I started in illustrator to create my colour schemes. I used the colour guide tool in illustrator to get each of my colours. I chose the first colour, and then went through the different types of colour schemes.

This is the colour guide tool, and the different colour schemes you can choose.

I then created a small cup in illustrator and imported it into after effects. I then separated all the layers, and coloured each piece.

I then animated the different pieces of the cup, using the keyframes and position, and then added motion blur. I then just added the colour scheme names in front of each animation.
